Tiana Elame

Founder | Environmental Business Strategist

Tiana Elame has a multidisciplinary background spanning project management, public speaking, energy innovation, historic preservation, and environmental compliance. Tiana has worked across sectors to advance meaningful change. Tiana —founded EnvAns (short for Environmental Answers) to bring cutting-edge technology and strategy to the environmental sector. At its core, EnvAns is about transforming how we implement the latest available science in our built environment —creating better systems that power better outcomes for people and the planet.

Tiana is the host of EnvAns Podcast, where I speak with clean energy innovators, environmental leaders, and frontline problem-solvers to explore the real-world challenges—and answers—behind today’s biggest sustainability questions.

In addition to leading EnvAns, Tiana is a faculty lecturer at NC State University, where she teaches courses on energy systems and environmental policy. Her teaching portfolio includes a 100-level introduction to energy, two 200-level courses on renewable energy adoption, and a 300-level seminar on energy and environmental policy.

Petra Hoke

Environmental Communications Developer

Petra Hoke brings over seven years of experience in clean energy communications to her role as Environmental Communications Developer at EnvAns. Collaborating with the team on a contractual basis, Petra leads the development of a cohesive and compelling brand presence, helping to elevate the visibility and impact of EnvAns' work across industries.

A creative and strategic communications professional, Petra has led high-impact branding and design initiatives within the energy sector. Her expertise spans Adobe Creative Suite, UX/UI design, social media strategy, and data-driven marketing. With a unique ability to blend creative vision and analytical insight, she is passionate about using design and strategic communication to drive meaningful environmental progress.

Xena Gray

Environmental Project Navigator

As the Environmental Project Navigator for EnvAns, Xena plays a vital role in shaping the development of the EnvAns platform. She represents the organization at industry conferences, building strategic relationships and staying ahead of the latest environmental and construction trends. Xena also contributes to the EnvAns quarterly newsletter with her own dedicated column, while supporting project tracking and helping move initiatives from concept to execution with both insight and precision.

Currently a master’s student at the University of Oklahoma, Xena brings academic depth and hands-on research experience in inorganic synthesis to her role. A native of Cary, North Carolina, she is an environmental scientist with a focus on energy and materials management. When she’s not advancing sustainability solutions, you’ll likely find her at the barn or hiking local trails with her dog.
